Transfer: Carragher changes EPL title prediction after Man City sign Enzo Fernandez

Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher has stated that Manchester City has emerged as the primary contender to Arsenal in the Premier League title race following a high-profile transfer.

City has agreed to pay Chelsea £125 million for midfielder Enzo Fernandez, marking a significant move in the January transfer window. This deal was finalized just before the transfer deadline.

In a discussion on Sky Sports, Carragher analyzed the implications of the transfer on the league standings. He noted the impact of Fernandez’s departure from Chelsea, suggesting it would diminish their competitive edge.

“He certainly pushes Man City above Chelsea,” Carragher remarked. He previously expressed optimism regarding Chelsea’s season prospects, citing their lack of European commitments, the hiring of a new manager, and a strong attacking lineup. However, he acknowledged that losing Fernandez, who has been a key player for Chelsea, would hinder their performance.

“Man City look a lot stronger now,” Carragher added. “I would say they’re going to be the biggest challengers to Arsenal right now.”
