Konyaspor in Talks to Acquire Defender Chidozie Awaziem
Turkish Super Lig club Konyaspor has initiated discussions with Nigerian defender Chidozie Awaziem, according to reports from DAILY POST.
Awaziem is anticipated to depart from French club Nantes this summer, following the team’s relegation from Ligue 1 last season. Turkish news outlet Spor Depor claims Konyaspor is eager to secure the services of the 29-year-old.
The defender has prior experience in Turkey, having played for Caykur Rizespor and Alanyaspor. He spent the latter half of the 2018-19 season on loan at Rizespor, where he made 16 appearances. In the 2021-22 season, Awaziem was loaned to Alanyaspor, contributing one goal in 22 matches.
Last season, Konyaspor finished ninth in the Turkish Super Lig and suffered a 2-1 defeat to Trabzonspor in the Turkey Cup final.
