Troops Arrest Three Suspected Robbers in Borno State
Biu, Borno State – Three individuals suspected of participating in a robbery have been arrested by troops in Gar Gwigwi village, Biu Local Government Area. The arrests were reported in a post on X by security analyst Zagazola Makama, who cited information from security sources.
According to the report, members of the 162 Amphibious Battalion, operating under Operation HADIN KAI, acted on intelligence received around 6:00 p.m. on May 21 regarding ongoing robbery incidents in the community.
Security sources indicated that the operation was prompted by allegations involving members of the Civilian Joint Task Force assigned to the battalion. The troops quickly mobilized, successfully apprehending three suspects, while others escaped.
Among the items recovered from the suspects were five mobile phones, a nylon bag containing a substance identified as ice, a locally made charm, a necklace chain, two wristwatches, a dagger, a Qur’an booklet, and cash amounting to N1,070. Additionally, a dane gun found in the possession of the suspects was traced to a member of the Miyetti Allah group, who reported it stolen a day before the robbery. The weapon has since been returned to its owner following verification.
The suspects are currently in military custody, where they are expected to undergo investigation and potential prosecution.
