Suspected Teenage Terrorist Arrested in Borno State
GUBIO, Borno State — Troops from the 149 Battalion, operating under Operation HADIN KAI, apprehended a 15-year-old suspected terrorist in Gubio town on May 14 during a joint security operation with the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF).
The operation, which began around 1:20 p.m., focused on tracking and intercepting suspected insurgents in the region.
The suspect, identified as Umar Zacharria from Jere Local Government Area, was reported by security analyst Zagazola Makama, who shared details of the arrest on X on Friday.
Security sources indicated that Zacharria allegedly confessed to participating in terror activities targeting motorists in the Kareto general area.
He is currently in military custody, where investigators are working to ascertain his level of involvement and any potential connections to affiliated groups.
