Troops eliminate two terrorists, foil pipeline attack

Nigerian Army Reports Military Gains in Recent Operations

The Nigerian Army announced Tuesday that its troops have achieved significant successes in a series of military operations across Taraba, Kogi, and Rivers states over the past 24 hours.

In an operational update released in Abuja, the army stated that forces from the 93 Battalion, stationed in Akate within Donga Local Government Area, confronted suspected terrorists in a forested region, resulting in the elimination of two individuals. The operation yielded an AK-47 rifle, ammunition, magazines, mobile phones, and personal belongings.

In Kogi state, the 21 Battalion, in collaboration with local vigilantes, successfully rescued four individuals who had been kidnapped along the Anyigba–Itobe road in Ofu Local Government Area. According to the report, the victims were abandoned by their captors while attempting to navigate a seasonal stream, prompted by the pressure of advancing troops. The military continues efforts to rescue other individuals still held captive.

Additionally, the 12 Brigade reported thwarting an ambush on the Kabba–Okene road while withdrawing from a previous mission. The attackers were forced to retreat, sustaining injuries.

In Rivers state, troops from the 5 Battalion acted on credible intelligence to prevent a planned explosion of a crude oil pipeline in Ahoada West Local Government Area. The army’s prompt response disrupted the operation, causing the suspects to flee the scene.

The military’s recent operations underscore ongoing efforts to enhance security and combat terrorism in the region.
