Borno State Security Forces Arrest Suspected Boko Haram Collaborator

KUKAWA, Borno State – Troops from the 196 Amphibious Battalion, operating under Operation HADIN KAI, apprehended a suspected collaborator of Boko Haram and the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) during a routine security operation on May 20.

The arrest took place around 8:00 a.m. at the C Company 7 Platoon checkpoint in Kukawa Local Government Area. According to a post shared on social media platform X by security analyst Zagazola Makama, the suspect, identified as 50-year-old Kellu Alhaji Abba, was intercepted while allegedly transporting supplies intended for suspected terrorists.

Makama reported that Abba was allegedly delivering these supplies to her son, Modu Mustapha, who is believed to have connections with terrorist activities in the Dumba region. Recovered items included four ready-to-use supplementary food packs, two hijabs, and a wristwatch.

Security sources indicated that Abba, a Kanuri woman from the Lawanti area of Baga town, is currently in military custody for further investigation. Troops are conducting interrogations to assess the extent of her involvement in the logistical network supporting the terrorist group.

While the overall security situation in the area remains described as calm but unpredictable, military forces are continuing to maintain a strong operational presence in the region.
