Trump suspends planned Iran attack after appeal from Arab leaders

Trump Delays Military Action Against Iran Following Regional Leaders’ Requests
Washington, D.C. — President Donald Trump announced on Monday that he would postpone a planned military strike against Iran at the request of leaders from Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates.
In a post on his Truth Social media account, Trump explained that the strike was originally scheduled for Tuesday, but ongoing negotiations between the United States and several Middle Eastern countries warranted the delay.
The request to defer the attack came from Qatari Emir Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, and UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
“The deal will include, importantly, no nuclear weapons for Iran!” Trump stated, adding that he instructed U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Dan Caine to stand down for now.
However, Trump indicated that if negotiations fail to yield acceptable results, he has given orders to prepare for a “full, large-scale assault on Iran at a moment’s notice.”
This announcement arises less than a day after Trump remarked that the “clock is ticking” for an agreement with Iran, which has seen negotiations stall in recent weeks since a ceasefire was implemented.
