Turkey: Osimhen’s comeback ends in Galatasaray shock defeat to Genclerbirligi

Galatasaray Falls to Genclerbirligi in Turkish Cup Quarter-Final
Galatasaray’s striker Victor Osimhen, making his return from injury, could not turn the tide for his team as they lost 2-0 to Genclerbirligi in the Turkish Cup quarter-final on Wednesday.
Osimhen had been sidelined for over a month due to an arm injury sustained during a Champions League match against Liverpool. He started the game on the bench before being substituted in during the 78th minute.
Galatasaray entered the match as favorites after a recent victory in the Super Lig; however, they struggled to convert their dominance into goals.
The visitors took control in the 51st minute when Firatcan Uzum scored, putting Galatasaray in a challenging position. Shortly after Osimhen’s entry, Genclerbirligi doubled their lead with a goal from Adama Traore, effectively sealing Galatasaray’s fate in the tournament.
