Nigeria’s Flamingos Defeat Guinea 5-0 in U-17 Women’s World Cup Qualifier
ABIDJAN, Ivory Coast — Nigeria’s Flamingos secured a decisive 5-0 victory over Guinea in the first leg of the 2026 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup second round qualifying match on Saturday.
Team captain Harmony Chidi delivered an outstanding performance, scoring a hat trick. She initiated the scoring just one minute into the match, setting a positive tone for the Flamingos.
Chidi struck again in the 13th minute, extending Nigeria’s lead. Oluwakemi Adegbuyi added the third goal at the 37-minute mark, followed by Chidi’s third goal five minutes before halftime.
Mary Dunstan rounded off the Flamingos’ scoring with another goal in the 56th minute.
The second leg of the qualifying fixture is scheduled for next Saturday at the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne.
