Manchester United legend Wayne Rooney stated that he believes this is the year Arsenal will win the UEFA Champions League. His comments came during an interview on Amazon Prime following Arsenal’s 1-0 victory over Atletico Madrid in the second leg of their semi-final matchup.
Arsenal had previously drawn 1-1 with Atletico at the Wanda Metropolitano Stadium last week. At the Emirates Stadium, Bukayo Saka scored the crucial goal just before halftime, sealing the team’s progression to the next round.
Rooney expressed admiration for the vibrant atmosphere created by the home supporters, which he felt was instrumental in pushing the team forward.
“I’ve played a Champions League semi-final here before,” Rooney remarked. “The atmosphere that evening was nowhere near what it was like today. This is Arsenal’s year.”
