Why I chose to work with Obi — Kwankwaso

Former Kano State Governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso has announced his partnership with former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi for the 2027 presidential election, emphasizing the necessity of providing Nigerians with competent and accountable leadership.
In a message marking the start of the 2027 presidential campaign, Kwankwaso highlighted that Nigeria is at a critical juncture, noting challenges such as soaring living costs, high unemployment rates, and persistent insecurity. He also pointed to insufficient investments in education, healthcare, and infrastructure as ongoing issues facing the nation.
Kwankwaso remarked that millions of Nigerians, particularly the youth, are struggling to secure meaningful employment, while businesses grapple with elevated operating costs amid an uncertain economic climate. He stressed that insecurity continues to threaten communities, with acts of terrorism, banditry, and kidnapping resulting in a significant loss of lives and livelihoods.
“Our farmers need security to return to their farms, our children need safe schools, and every Nigerian deserves to live without fear,” he stated.
While acknowledging the severity of the challenges Nigeria faces, Kwankwaso expressed confidence in the nation’s potential, citing its rich human and material resources as vital for building a prosperous and secure future. He emphasized the need for leadership characterized by competence, courage, and commitment, prioritizing the interests of Nigerians above personal ambitions.
Addressing his decision to team up with Obi, Kwankwaso declared, “This is why I have chosen to work with His Excellency, Peter Obi, on the Obi-Kwankwaso ticket. Our partnership is not about region, religion, or personal ambition. It is about Nigeria.”
Kwankwaso envisions a Nigeria where government is accountable to the people, hard work is rewarded, and young Nigerians can achieve success. He encouraged young people, women, workers, farmers, entrepreneurs, and professionals to join their political movement, urging a shift away from divisive politics to focus on pressing issues affecting daily lives.
He called on voters to demand accountability and measurable results from public officials. “The 2027 election presents Nigerians with an opportunity to choose a new direction,” he said.
Kwankwaso urged Nigerians to support the Obi-Kwankwaso ticket and candidates from the NDC. He also appealed for peaceful and responsible campaigning, stating, “Let us campaign peacefully, responsibly, and with the national interest at heart. Together, we can build a stronger nation, and Nigeria will be OK.”
