World Cup: Kyle Walker, Micah Richards name only team that’ll stop England from winning trophy

Walker and Richards Identify Norway as Key Challenge for England in World Cup Quarter-finals

In a discussion following England’s thrilling 3-2 victory over co-hosts Mexico, former internationals Kyle Walker and Micah Richards emphasized that Norway poses the primary threat to the Three Lions’ pursuit of a second World Cup title.

England secured its quarter-final berth at the Azteca Stadium amid challenging conditions, including a notable atmosphere and the ejection of player Jarell Quansah. Despite these hurdles, the squad delivered a historic win.

With the victory, England will face Norway on Saturday evening in Miami, after Norway eliminated five-time champions Brazil in a stunning upset in New Jersey.

Walker acknowledged the potential difficulty of the upcoming match, suggesting that while Brazil is an exceptional team, he would have preferred to face them over Norway. “I perceive that there are opportunities to exploit their weaknesses, particularly with Casemiro and the midfield dynamics,” he commented on The Sun’s YouTube channel. “Norway is a well-structured team and, when they have the ball, they can play effectively. They possess formidable players up front, like Erling Haaland and Martin Ødegaard, in their current form.”

Walker expressed confidence in England’s ability, hoping they would replicate their performance against Mexico. If they overcome Norway, the team is set to meet either Argentina or Switzerland in the semi-finals.

In the other bracket, France will compete against Morocco, while Spain will take on Belgium for a chance to reach the final four.

Walker conveyed optimism regarding England’s chances, stating, “I believe that England should feel somewhat disappointed if they do not reach the final now… This is a great opportunity to make history.” However, he acknowledged that France remains a strong contender for the title.

Richards echoed Walker’s sentiments, stating, “The only team that really worries me is France. They’re so dynamic.”
