World Cup: Tuchel names three outstanding players who prevented Palmer from making England squad

England’s Thomas Tuchel Discusses Cole Palmer’s World Cup Omission
England manager Thomas Tuchel has pointed to three standout players as key reasons for Chelsea’s Cole Palmer not being included in the national squad for the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Tuchel recently unveiled his roster for the tournament, which is set to commence next month, but Palmer’s name was notably absent.
The coach suggested that Jude Bellingham, Eberechi Eze, and Morgan Rogers outperformed Palmer during the season, hindering the 24-year-old’s chances of selection due to their competition for playing time in similar positions.
“Cole Palmer wasn’t as decisive as in previous seasons, and he wasn’t consistently available for us,” Tuchel explained, as reported by journalist Fabrizio Romano. “He also competes in the right half 10 position, where we chose Jude, Morgan, and Eze, all of whom had better seasons and proved more decisive in our camps than Cole did.”
