Rangers Approach Ninth NPFL Title with Win Over Bayelsa United
YENAGOA, Nigeria — Rangers inched closer to a ninth Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) title following a 2-0 victory against Bayelsa United at the Samson Siasia Stadium on Sunday.
The team, known as the Flying Antelopes, scored in both halves, securing a vital win that keeps them at the top of the standings with 62 points from 36 matches.
In Port Harcourt, Rivers United applied pressure on Rangers with a 3-0 triumph over Abia Warriors. After a goalless first half, Rivers United found their stride, scoring all three goals following the break. Wasiu Falolu opened the scoring in the 50th minute, while Timothy Zachariah and Bello Babatunde added two more goals for coach Finidi George’s side.
In another match, defending champions Remo Stars faced a setback, losing 2-1 to Enyimba in Aba. Former Enyimba player Victor Mbaoma initially gave Remo Stars the lead in the 21st minute, but goals from Stanley Dimgba and Chidera Michael secured the win for Enyimba.
