Rivers United Defeats Abia Warriors 3-0 in NPFL Action
Port Harcourt, Nigeria — Rivers United secured a decisive 3-0 home victory over Abia Warriors during a Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) matchday 36 encounter on Sunday at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium.
While Abia Warriors demonstrated a strong defensive performance in the first half, the team succumbed to three goals after the break. Azeez Falolu opened the scoring just five minutes into the second half. Timothy Zachaaria and Bello Babatunde each contributed to the scoreline, securing the win for Rivers United.
Following the match, technical adviser Finidi George reflected on his team’s performance, noting that they struggled to create opportunities in the first half. “There was only one glaring chance that we missed — a header. There was another chance but not as clear-cut as the first,” he stated.
Looking ahead, Rivers United will face Wikki Tourists this weekend at the New Jos Stadium.
