Gunmen Attack Ahoro-Esinele Community, Abduct Students and School Principal

OYO STATE — Several gunmen invaded the Ahoro-Esinele community in the Oriire Local Government Area early this morning, leading to the abduction of an undisclosed number of secondary school students from Community High School, according to reports.

The attack occurred between 8 a.m. and 9 a.m., as confirmed by local sources. In addition to the students, the assailants also kidnapped the school’s principal, identified as Mrs. Rachael Alamu, and reportedly injured a teacher during the incident.

Witnesses indicated that the suspects fled the scene in the principal’s vehicle before escaping into a nearby forest reserve.

A local source shared concerns about the situation, stating, “We don’t know the number of students affected. The principal was taken, and a teacher was shot. We are unsure of the teacher’s identity.”

The nearest police station, Ikoyi Division, is reportedly located far from the community, raising concerns about response times in emergency situations.

Olayinka Ayanlade, Public Relations Officer for the Oyo State Police Command, confirmed the occurrence of the attack but did not provide details regarding the abductions when contacted. “There was an attack in that area. The Commissioner of Police is on his way to the area,” Ayanlade stated in a brief telephone conversation.

Authorities continue to assess the situation as police respond to the community. Further updates will follow as more information becomes available.
