Imoke, Ahmed lead ADC presidential primary committees

ADC Appoints Leaders for Presidential Primary Committees

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has appointed former Cross River Governor Liyel Imoke and former Kwara Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed to lead its presidential primary committees, the party announced on Monday.

Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, the National Publicity Secretary, detailed in a statement from Abuja that Imoke will chair the Presidential Screening Committee, while Ahmed will lead the Presidential Election Committee.

The members of the Presidential Screening Committee include Cyril Maduabum (Secretary), Alhaji Lawal Batagarawa, Prof. Bode Ayorinde, Nnena Elendu-Ukeje, Prof. David Salifu, and retired Col. Abubakar Ciroma.

Prof. Yisa Gana will serve as secretary of the Presidential Election Committee, which also includes retired Maj.-Gen. Adamu Jalingo, Dr. Auwalu Anwar, Chief Emenike Ikechi, Dr. Macaulay Iyare, and Tajudeen Bakare.

Additionally, the party has established a Presidential Appeal Committee, chaired by Dr. Suleiman Usman, SAN. Mr. Ken Imasuagbon will serve as secretary, with Mr. Dare Okerade as a member.

For governorship primaries, ADC has formed two screening panels. The first panel, chaired by Shaibu Aruwa, SAN, includes Femi Olawuyi, Esq. as secretary, along with members Lauretta Onochie, Dr. Vivian Ugochukwu, Akilu Indabawa, Ibrahim Wali, and Prof. Rabiu Bello.

The second screening panel will be chaired by Mrs. Justina Abanida, with Chille Igbawua as secretary and members including Gerrard Irona, Sen. Yisa Braimoh, Hassan Ibrahim, Joseph Enemali, and retired Navy Capt. Aliyu Ngolmo.

The party also approved two governorship appeals committees. The first will be chaired by P.I. Oyewole, Esq. with Abdulhakeen Ibrahim as secretary and Adah Usman as a member. The second committee will be led by M.E. Sheriff, Esq. with Mr. Realwan Okpanachi as secretary and Hassan Yakubu as a member.

Abdullahi indicated that the committees were established to promote transparency, credibility, fairness, and internal democracy throughout the party’s primary election processes.
