Edo State NDLEA Arrests Four Suspected Drug Traffickers
Benin City, Edo State— The Edo State Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has apprehended four individuals suspected of drug trafficking in recent operations.
On May 15, 2026, two women were detained behind the Oredo Local Government Area Secretariat in Benin City. The NDLEA State Commander, Dr. Mitchell Ofoyeju, reported the arrests during a briefing on the agency’s activities over the past week. The suspects, identified as 25-year-old Eniye Osague and 43-year-old Osaretin Erabor, were found in possession of 272 grams of “Scottish loud” and 914 grams of cannabis sativa, respectively.
In a subsequent operation in the Hausa Quarters area of Oluku, Benin City, Vivian Chukwuma, 38, and 44-year-old Osigwe Omogie were arrested. They were reportedly discovered with a variety of illicit substances, including 315 grams of cannabis loud, 22 grams of Colorado, 38 grams of methamphetamine, 30 grams of Tramadol (100 mg), 113 grams of cannabis sativa, 8 grams of loud, and 5 grams of tramadol.
Additionally, Ofoyeju disclosed that separate raids conducted in various locations, including the Oluku area and Uduwuga in Uhumwonde Local Government Area, resulted in the apprehension of three female suspects and one male trafficker.
To bolster their efforts against drug trafficking, the NDLEA destroyed two large cannabis plantations located in the Ago Forest of Orhionmwon Local Government Area. The farms covered a total area of approximately 0.555 hectares, with an estimated yield of 1,388.42 kilograms of cannabis. Ofoyeju noted that no arrests were made at the cultivation sites, as the individuals responsible were not present during the operation.
The NDLEA continues to emphasize its commitment to combating drug trafficking and abuse across the state.
