Founder of Satirical Political Movement Claims Government Shutdown of Website

The founder of a satirical political movement known as the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) has accused the Indian government of shutting down the group’s official website.

Abhijeet Dipke, a student at Boston University, made the allegation on social media platform X on Saturday, stating that the government had removed what he described as the “iconic” website.

The CJP was established just one week ago in response to remarks made by India’s Chief Justice Surya Kant, who compared unemployed youth to cockroaches. Kant later clarified his comments, explaining that he intended to address issues related to fraudulent degrees and praised India’s youth as “the pillars of a developed India.”

In addition to the website, Dipke reported that his personal Instagram account was also hacked, along with the CJP’s account, which has gained over 22 million followers since its launch. This follows a significant contrast to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, which has more than nine million followers on Instagram.

Dipke noted that the movement has attracted about one million supporters in the past week alone. The CJP is currently advocating for the resignation of Indian Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, as over 600,000 individuals have signed the movement’s petition. Recent protests have erupted across the country following allegations of exam paper leaks, which led to the cancellation of a government-run medical entrance test.

Earlier this week, Dipke articulated his group’s mission, stating, “Those in power think citizens are cockroaches and parasites. They should know that cockroaches breed in rotten places. That’s what India is today.”

The CJP’s rise continues to garner attention amidst growing public discontent regarding government accountability and transparency.
