Musicians Demand Action Following Oyo State Abductions

Several prominent musicians are calling for urgent intervention following the kidnapping of students and teachers from three schools in Oyo State. The abduction, which occurred on May 15, 2026, involved individuals taken from Baptist Nursery and Primary School (Yawota), Community Grammar School, and L.A. Primary School (Esiele) in the Oriire Local Government Area.

According to reports, 39 students and seven teachers were abducted, while two teachers were killed, prompting national outrage over the escalating violence.

Singer Victony has urged President Bola Tinubu to address the growing insecurity in the country and prioritize the rescue of all kidnap victims, particularly children. In a post on X, he wrote, “Save our children & put an end to this mess @officialABAT.”

Similarly, artist Davido expressed his heartbreak over the incident and the ongoing suffering of those held captive. He criticized the prevailing insecurity, stating, “I’m weak. God, please take control. We can’t continue like this… my heart goes out to the victims and family. This is messed up.”

Timaya also issued a statement, emphasizing the need for the government to take decisive action against the rising insecurity. “We appeal to the government for even greater urgency, collaboration, and action in addressing the growing security challenges facing many parts of our country,” the statement read.

As public concern mounts, the call for immediate action continues to resonate across various platforms.
