Final-year Kogi varsity student found dead by roadside in Lokoja

Kogi State Police Confirm Death of University Student

LOKOJA, Kogi State — The Kogi State Police have confirmed the death of Sarah Ojodomo Idoko, a final-year student at the Federal University Lokoja.

Her body was discovered on the night of May 30, 2026, along the roadside in the Crusher area, near Felele-Lokoja Road. Reports indicate she was allegedly abandoned there by unknown individuals.

Witnesses reported seeing a vehicle halt briefly in the vicinity around 8 p.m. before it fled the scene, leading to the subsequent discovery of her body.

Initially, an identity card found at the location led to some confusion, with early reports suggesting Idoko was a student at Kogi State Polytechnic. However, police later clarified that she was, in fact, enrolled at the Federal University Lokoja.

The Association of Nigerian Female Students, Kogi chapter, condemned the incident, labeling it both inhumane and unfortunate. They urged law enforcement to ensure that those responsible are brought to justice.

Kogi State Commissioner of Police Naziru Kankarofi confirmed the incident, stating that investigations are underway.

“For now, we are not ready to disclose much about the ongoing investigation. We will release our findings at the appropriate time,” Kankarofi said.
