Qing Madi Accuses Former Record Label of Signature Forgery and Sabotage

Afrobeats singer Qing Madi has accused Joy Tongo, CEO of JTon Music, of forging her signature and misappropriating funds. The allegations come as tensions grow between the artist and her former record label.

In a TikTok livestream, Madi asserted that JTon Music is attempting to undermine her career following the removal of several tracks from her new album, “Barely Legal,” from streaming platforms due to what the label claims are breaches of contract.

“I defeated their $2 million lawsuit in court,” Madi stated, adding that the label has engaged in dubious tactics to target her music. “She [Joy Tongo] stole from me, did a bunch of strange things like forging my signature.” Madi noted that despite these challenges, her team successfully proved the removal of her song “Pepper Me” was illegal.

Madi expressed frustration with the ongoing disputes and called upon her fans to voice their support against what she describes as persistent injustice from her former label.

In response, Tongo dismissed Madi’s allegations as “false claims.” In a recent Instagram post, she denied forging Madi’s signature or taking from her financially.

Tongo also clarified that the legal case Madi referred to is ongoing, stating, “The injunction is why we can issue a legal takedown now; what case have you won? Because last time I checked, the case still hasn’t gone to trial.”

The situation marks a significant conflict in the music industry as both parties maintain their respective positions.
