Satellite images show destruction of the US-Israel war on Iran | US-Israel war on Iran News

Impact of U.S. and Israel’s Military Actions on Iran: A Satellite Imagery Overview

Since the United States and Israel initiated military operations against Iran 100 days ago, the extent of destruction across the region remains challenging to quantify. In response to the ongoing conflict, satellite imagery companies, including Planet Labs, have enacted a blackout on images at the request of Washington.

Prior to these restrictions, a range of satellite imagery from companies such as Airbus, Planet Labs, and Sentinel provided insight into the devastation resulting from the conflict. Al Jazeera’s Open Source Unit has compiled a list of 15 locations across Iran, Lebanon, and the Gulf, illustrating the impact of the recent military actions from an aerial perspective.

Sites Across Iran

Natanz Complex
Located in Isfahan province, Iran’s largest uranium enrichment facility, Natanz was targeted twice in June 2025—first by Israeli forces, followed by the United States as part of Operation Midnight Hammer. Satellite images from early March show significant structural damage, including impact on personnel access points and underground enrichment areas.

Siri Island
Approximately 70 kilometers from Iran’s southern coast, this island serves as a crucial oil export hub. Imagery from April 15, 2026, reveals a substantial fire resulting from a direct hit on its largest oil storage tank, which has a capacity of one million barrels, mirroring previous damage observed at Kharg Island oil terminal.

Bandar Abbas
This Iranian port city near the Strait of Hormuz shows extensive destruction across 11 sites, according to satellite images taken between late February and early April 2026. Analysis indicates severe damage to key warehouses and vessels docked in the area.

Fath Air Base
Located about 35 kilometers west of Tehran, Fath Air Base is an operational center for the IRGC Aerospace Force. High-resolution imagery from April 10, 2026, indicates extensive damage, including collapsed roofs and severe structural compromise at various technical facilities.

Bandar Abbas Naval Base
As the main base for the Islamic Republic of Iran Navy, this facility sustained extensive strike damage, as shown in images captured on March 2. Analysis indicates a direct hit on the “IRIS Makran,” resulting in visible fires and significant damage to other facilities.

Naqoura
This strategic area in southwestern Lebanon, home to the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL), has suffered significant destruction. Satellite images captured between February 18 and April 16 confirm the demolition of over 100 buildings.

Bint Jbeil
This town, regarded as the historical capital of southern Lebanon’s border region, experienced heavy destruction due to Israeli military operations. Imagery from February 20 to April 14, 2026, indicates damage to approximately 725 buildings.

Rachaf
Adjacent to the Israeli border, this hilltop town has been affected severely, as satellite images reveal entire neighborhoods razed to the ground between February and April 2026.

Kozah and Beit Lif
These neighboring towns have also faced extensive destruction, with imagery from Airbus showing damage to historic civil and religious sites, including St. Joseph Church.

Al Udeid Air Base, Qatar
Located southwest of Doha, this facility serves as a forward command center for U.S. Central Command. Imagery from April 4 shows structural damage across the base.

Ali Al Salem Air Base, Kuwait
This strategic U.S. and coalition air hub displayed damage across multiple locations, according to high-resolution satellite images from March 1, attributed to intercepted Iranian missile debris.
