Four Suspected Gun Runners Arrested in Delta and Imo States

Operatives of the Nigeria Police Force have detained four individuals suspected of involvement in gun trafficking in Delta and Imo States.

Delta State Commissioner of Police Yemi Oyeniyi announced the arrests during a press briefing on Monday, noting that they stemmed from an ongoing investigation into an incident involving the unlawful possession of a Beretta pistol, which was recovered at a park in Effurun, Uvwie Local Government Area on May 1, 2026.

The suspects have been identified as Emmanuel Chukwuemeka, Clifford Boleyelefa, Amadi Princewill, and Amadi Felix Chibuike.

According to Oyeniyi, the suspects were apprehended in Bayelsa and Imo States as part of a meticulous investigation utilizing intelligence-led operations.

Chukwuemeka was arrested in Bayelsa on May 4, 2026, alongside a friend whose phone was allegedly used for communications related to the gun purchase. He reportedly bought the firearm from Amadi Princewill for ₦290,000 and later sold it for ₦380,000 to an individual identified only as Desmond, who has since evaded capture. Desmond arranged for the gun to be sent to Sapele and involved an individual named Oghenemine Ogidi, who is now deceased.

Following Chukwuemeka’s confession, Princewill was located and arrested in Imo State on May 15, 2026. During interrogation, he indicated that he acquired the gun from Amadi Felix for ₦200,000. Felix was subsequently arrested in Owerri, Imo State, on May 16, 2026.

All arrested individuals are reportedly affiliated with the Black Axe confraternity. The police are continuing their search for additional suspects, including Desmond, and the arrested individuals will be charged in court upon the completion of the investigation.
