Hajj: How Uba Sani won hearts of Kaduna pilgrims

Governor Uba Sani Treks to Meet Kaduna Pilgrims, Reinforces Commitment to Security
KADUNA, Nigeria — Governor Uba Sani demonstrated his commitment to the people of Kaduna State by trekking six kilometers to meet with pilgrims in Mina, Saudi Arabia. This gesture aimed to offer prayers for an end to the ongoing security challenges facing the nation.
The head of the Kaduna State Hajj Delegation, Alhaji Abubakar Mustapha, praised the Governor’s actions, describing him as a statesman motivated by empathy and patriotism. Mustapha’s comments came during a statement released by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Malam Ibraheem Musa, on Thursday.
According to the statement, the route to the tent city of Mina was closed off on the evening of 13th Dhul Hijjah, necessitating the Governor’s trek to reach the pilgrims. During his visit, Sani commended the pilgrims and their officials for a successful Hajj and distributed 300 Saudi Riyals to each pilgrim to supplement their Basic Travelling Allowances.
Mustapha emphasized that Sani’s personal engagement was more significant than the financial contributions. “He was the only Governor who went to see his pilgrims in their tents and offered them words of encouragement,” Mustapha stated.
The Governor urged the pilgrims to pray for the resolution of Nigeria’s security issues and advised them to reject divisive political influences. Mustapha also expressed his personal hopes for Sani’s continued success and fulfillment of his goals.
Additionally, Mustapha praised the Malam Salihu S. Abubakar-led Special Hajj Committee for its financial prudence and accountability. He noted that the pilgrims’ accommodations were conveniently located near the Al Masjid Haram, the Grand Mosque in Makkah, and that while the meals served were generally well-received, some feedback regarding insufficient sauce had been addressed.
The head of the delegation acknowledged the professionalism of the Kaduna State Pilgrims Welfare Agency and its staff, which facilitated the Hajj process. He remarked on the educational efforts led by the Sheikh Haliru Maraya sub-Committee on Preaching, which helped sensitize pilgrims about the acceptable rituals of Hajj.
Reflecting on his extensive experience, Mustapha shared that this year’s pilgrimage has been the best since he first performed Hajj in 1981 and served as Amirul Hajj in 1999.
