Dickson receives Obi, urges NDC members to stop name-calling ahead 2027

Senator Dickson Hosts Peter Obi Amid Party Tensions
Senator Seriake Dickson met with Peter Obi, the presidential candidate for the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), on Thursday to address recent tensions within the party. This follows comments made by Dickson regarding alleged attacks from some of Obi’s supporters.
The meeting, which lasted approximately three hours, took place in a closed-door setting. Dickson announced the discussions via a statement, noting that they involved party leaders and focused on recent controversies impacting the NDC.
“I just received my brother, colleague, and partner in the New Nigerian Project, His Excellency Mr. Peter Gregory Obi, CON,” Dickson said, emphasizing the importance of unity for the party’s future. He indicated that contentious issues were thoroughly discussed and amicably resolved.
The former governor of Bayelsa State reiterated his commitment to strengthening the party and positioning it for upcoming electoral challenges. “We have always shared the same vision of winning elections and providing an alternative to the All Progressives Congress (APC),” he added.
Despite acknowledging past disagreements, Dickson expressed optimism that party leaders had reached a consensus on how to manage similar issues moving forward. He urged party members to cease internal disputes and concentrate on their shared objectives.
“I want to use this opportunity again to call on all members of our party to stop the bickering and name-calling and focus on the bigger picture,” he stated.
Dickson assured members that ongoing consultations between him, Obi, and other stakeholders would aim to enhance unity, address concerns, and ensure cohesion within the NDC. He reaffirmed their commitment to what he described as a shared mission to improve governance and build a better future for Nigerians.
