Military Rescues Six Abducted Individuals in Borno State
Troops from the Joint Task Force North East, operating under Operation HADIN KAI, successfully rescued six abducted individuals, including two infants, during recent search-and-rescue operations in Borno State.
According to a statement released Saturday by Acting Military Information Officer Captain Mohammed Goni, the rescue took place at Talakawa in the Chibok Local Government Area, following sustained air and ground operations bolstered by credible intelligence. The victims were initially abducted in Mussa, Askira/Uba Local Government Area, in May.
Goni characterized the mission as a significant advancement in efforts to recover students from the Government Day Secondary School in Lassa.
“Following sustained air and ground exploitation supported by credible intelligence, troops successfully rescued six additional abducted persons comprising four adults and two infants,” Goni stated.
The rescued individuals have been evacuated to a secure location where they are undergoing medical evaluations and receiving necessary care. Immediate relief materials and other essentials have also been provided to help mitigate the effects of their captivity. Plans for their safe reunification with their families are currently underway.
Additionally, military personnel reported recovering 50 rounds of PKT ammunition abandoned by insurgents during the pursuit of their withdrawal routes. This recovery reflects the effectiveness of ongoing military operations and the disordered retreat of the terrorists amid intensified pressure.
The Theatre Command reaffirmed its commitment to continuing search-and-rescue efforts until all remaining victims are safely recovered.
