Uba Sani commissions Kauru Road, reverses 45 years of neglect

Governor Uba Sani Commissions New Road, Bringing Long-Awaited Relief to Local Communities

Governor Uba Sani has inaugurated a 22-kilometer asphalt road along the Pambeguwa-Kahutu-Kauru route, a project that has been in demand for nearly 50 years. The ceremony took place on Tuesday and featured the opening of a bridge that connects Kubau and Kauru local governments.

Recalling the project’s flag-off on August 27, 2024, Governor Sani noted the significant reduction in travel time from Pambeguwa to Kauru, which previously took around an hour but is now under 12 minutes thanks to the new road.

Governor Sani highlighted that Kauru had not seen any road construction in the past 12 years, emphasizing that while prior administrations recognized the road’s importance, various obstacles had prevented its completion.

“When we broke ground for this road, we made a promise to the people of these communities. Today, we return with a finished project that speaks volumes about our commitment,” Sani stated.

The governor also pledged to develop township roads in Kauru and address the community’s two-decade-long struggle with electricity shortages. He mentioned that his administration has launched an extensive infrastructure renewal program since he took office, involving the construction of 140 roads covering over 1,335 kilometers across Kaduna State’s three senatorial zones.

These infrastructure projects, Sani explained, are guided by data and a commitment to rectify historical imbalances in access and opportunity. While several roads are already completed, others are under construction, showcasing his administration’s dedication to ongoing infrastructure development.

The newly completed Pambeguwa-Kahutu-Kauru road offers an alternative to congested routes, promising shorter travel times, reduced transport costs, and improved safety for the movement of goods and people. Governor Sani remarked that emergency services, students, farmers, and traders would all benefit from enhanced access to essential services and markets.

He added that the road was strategically designed to pass through agriculturally productive areas, facilitating easier transportation for farm produce to aggregation points, processing centers, and consumption markets, thereby boosting farmers’ competitiveness and value addition along the agricultural supply chain.
