Kano Hisbah bans mobile movie downloading business over alleged abuse of Islamic teachings

Kano State Hisbah Board Bans Mobile Movie Downloading Business

KANO, Nigeria — The Kano State Hisbah Board has prohibited mobile movie downloading across all 44 local government areas in the region. Acting Commander General Mujahid Aminuddeen announced the ban via a voice message distributed to journalists.

Aminuddeen stated that this decision is intended to uphold public morality, promote positive values, and ensure adherence to Islamic teachings. He noted that investigations revealed the downloading business has facilitated the distribution of films and videos that contradict both Islamic principles and local cultural norms.

“Our findings indicate that this business contributes to the proliferation of content that is inconsistent with our religion, culture, and ethical standards,” Aminuddeen said. “Therefore, we have decided to halt this activity to protect youth from moral decay and to limit the spread of detrimental content.”

The Acting Commander General issued a warning to individuals involved in the mobile downloading business, urging them to cease operations immediately. He emphasized that the Hisbah Board would pursue legal action against anyone found continuing this practice.

“We urge all operators to comply with this directive. Those who violate the ban will face the full consequences under the law,” he added.
