Tinubu strengthened security in Kano with new army formations – Kwankwaso

KANO, Nigeria — Dr. Musa Illiyasu Kwankwaso, a prominent member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), announced that President Bola Tinubu has established a new army battalion and artillery regiment in Kano State to bolster security in the region.
In a press statement released Saturday, Kwankwaso praised key government figures, including National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu, Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, Minister of Defence Christopher Musa, and Minister of State for Defence Bello Matawalle, for their roles in enhancing security measures in Kano.
The new military formations include the 24 Battalion, deployed to Tudun Wada, and the 311 Artillery Regiment, stationed in Dambatta. Kwankwaso indicated that these deployments are a proactive measure to counter escalating security threats in Kano and surrounding areas.
“The establishment of these new military formations will enhance the armed forces’ capacity to combat banditry, terrorism, and other violent crimes that threaten community safety,” Kwankwaso stated.
He expressed optimism that the presence of these military units would inspire greater confidence among residents in the Federal Government’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property.
“President Tinubu has demonstrated a deep concern for the security of Kano and its residents. The formation of these military units clearly shows the Federal Government’s readiness to take decisive action to protect the populace,” he said.
Kwankwaso underscored the importance of a robust security framework in Kano due to its significant population and economic stature. He emphasized that the new battalion and artillery regiment would enhance existing security measures and support the efforts of law enforcement agencies in addressing criminal activities.
The APC chieftain called on residents of Tudun Wada, Dambatta, and nearby communities to collaborate with military personnel by sharing pertinent information with security agencies. He highlighted that the success of the new military formations will rely not only on military presence but also on the cooperation between security forces and local communities.
“Residents will surely appreciate President Tinubu’s efforts for Kano,” Kwankwaso concluded. “We, in turn, will demonstrate our gratitude through continued support for his administration and its initiatives.”
