NDC Vice-Presidential Candidate Advocates Dialogue with All to Address Insecurity
Rabi’u Kwankwaso, the Vice-Presidential candidate for the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), has proposed engaging in discussions with various groups, including those involved in terrorism, as part of a strategy to combat insecurity in the country.
In an interview on Monday on Channels Television’s “Politics Today,” Kwankwaso outlined his vision for addressing security challenges should he and his running mate, Peter Obi, succeed in the upcoming 2027 general elections.
“We will work with the people, including those who engage in criminal activities, to explore options for discouraging their actions,” Kwankwaso stated. “We intend to have conversations with everyone.”
He highlighted that residents in affected communities possess critical information regarding the sources and individuals involved in ongoing security issues. However, he noted that fear often prevents these individuals from communicating with security agencies.
“People know what is happening in their localities, including the names of those involved,” Kwankwaso said. “Unfortunately, many communities are hesitant to report this information due to past experiences where they did not receive adequate protection.”
Kwankwaso’s comments reflect a commitment to a more inclusive approach in tackling Nigeria’s pressing security challenges.
