Joint Task Force Launches Offensive Against Bandit Camps in Zamfara
Troops from the Joint Task Force North West, operating under the mandate of Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have conducted a significant air and ground operation targeting the camps of notorious bandit leaders in Zamfara State.
The details emerged from a post shared on X on Monday by security analyst Bakatsine. The operation focused on the camps of prominent bandit leaders, including Najaja, Dogo Gide, Nasanda, and Buba Oris, situated in the Anka and Bukkuyum Local Government Areas.
Bakatsine noted that the military action was initiated following intelligence reports indicating a gathering of hundreds of armed fighters along the Bayarzaki riverline. The operation commenced with precision airstrikes on identified locations, followed by a ground ambush along the Gummi–Anka road to intercept fleeing militants.
As the operation unfolded, troops pursued the fleeing bandits to the Kombo High Ground, where an intense gun battle reportedly ensued, resulting in the deaths of numerous fighters. Bakatsine’s report stated that one soldier sustained injuries during the engagement, and troops recovered ammunition in subsequent clearance operations.
Describing the operation as a significant blow to armed groups in the region, Bakatsine highlighted the military’s commitment to dismantling terrorist networks and securing safer conditions in Zamfara State. He expressed commendation for the resilience and professionalism exhibited by the troops involved and extended wishes for a swift recovery to the injured soldier.
