Seven Arrested in Kano Drug Crackdown

The Kano State Anti-Phone Snatching Squad apprehended seven suspected drug users during a raid at Mahaha Stadium as part of an ongoing initiative to combat drug abuse and related criminal activities.

Ibrahim Garba Ahmad, spokesperson for the command, confirmed the arrests in an interview with a local radio station on Wednesday. The operation was initiated based on credible intelligence regarding the sale and consumption of illegal substances in certain areas of Mahaha Stadium.

According to Ahmad, Commander Nura Salisu Sharada directed a team led by Deputy Commissioner Abduljalal Sa’id Muhammad to conduct the raid.

“When our officers arrived at the scene, they discovered individuals openly trading in illicit drugs, including locally known substances such as Madarar Sukudayi and Sholisho. The dealers fled upon sighting the officers; however, seven buyers were arrested,” Ahmad stated.

This operation is part of the squad’s expanded patrols under the “Damisa Ki Sabo” initiative, which aims to identify and apprehend suspected drug dealers, users, and other criminal elements in the state.

Following the arrests, Commander Sharada ordered that the suspects be transferred to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Kano State Command, for further investigation and potential prosecution.
