Birmingham City and Derby County Pursue FC Basel Winger Philip Otele
BIRMINGHAM, England – Birmingham City and Derby County are the latest clubs to express interest in FC Basel winger Philip Otele. As reported by Transfeed, Derby County has already begun discussions with the Swiss club regarding a potential transfer for the Nigerian international.
Both clubs in the Sky Bet Championship face competition from Serie A clubs Lecce and Frosinone, which are also considering Otele as a potential addition to their squads.
The 27-year-old forward recently completed a loan spell at Bundesliga club Hamburg, where he struggled to make a significant impact. During the second half of the last season, Otele managed to score just once in nine league appearances. Following his performance, Hamburg opted not to pursue a permanent signing.
FC Basel is open to a sale and is reportedly seeking a fee of approximately €5 million for the winger.
