Nigerian Export Promotion Council Denies Planned Strike
LAGOS—The Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC) and its associated workers’ union have countered reports of a potential industrial action, labeling the claims circulating on various online platforms as unfounded. Both parties assert that the council maintains a state of industrial harmony.
The denial follows a meeting held Monday between NEPC management and the leadership of the Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria (ASCSN), NEPC Unit. In a statement released by Aliu Sadiq, Head of Corporate Communications, the council urged exporters, stakeholders, and the public to disregard what it termed misleading reports of an impending strike.
“The management of the Nigerian Export Promotion Council debunks misinformation circulating in some sections of the online media alleging a planned strike action by NEPC staff,” the statement read.
The council described the rumors as baseless, asserting they aim to mislead the public. ASCSN Chairman Moruf Ogunlana confirmed that the council continues to operate peacefully and noted that the union had neither authorized any strike action nor had prior knowledge of such allegations.
Additionally, NEPC management addressed rumors concerning the appointment of new directors. They stated that no such appointments have occurred and emphasized that they will continue to collaborate with the existing organizational structure and staff across all departments, while also focusing on enhancing their skills.
The council’s statement reaffirmed its commitment to transparency and collaboration within its operations.
