Peter Obi Reflects on Political Journey and Faith
LAGOS, Nigeria — Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), recently shared his thoughts on the role of faith in his political journey. Speaking to supporters, he expressed a desire to question God about his decision to enter politics, leaving behind a more comfortable life.
“I’m a politician today, but if I ever have the opportunity to question God, I would ask Him why He allowed me to leave my comfort zone and get involved in politics,” Obi stated during the address.
The former governor of Anambra State emphasized that he believes his current position is a result of divine intervention. He added, “Wherever we find ourselves is where God wants us to be, and we must do everything we can for the benefit of the masses.”
Obi stressed the importance of using his opportunities responsibly, saying, “I’m here by the grace of God, and I must not abuse His grace, whether it’s in a private, corporate, or government setting.”
Obi’s political career has seen him transition from the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), where he served as the party’s presidential running mate. In 2023, he switched to the Labour Party (LP) and ran for the presidency, finishing third.
Looking ahead, Obi is set to pursue the presidency again in 2027 under the banner of the NDC.
