AAC Presidential Candidate Criticizes Tinubu’s Performance
Omoyele Sowore, presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), has sharply criticized President Bola Tinubu’s performance during his three years in office, assigning him an “F9” grade across key governance areas.
Sowore made these remarks on Tuesday during an interview on Channels Television’s program “Morning Brief.” He called for the president to issue daily apologies to Nigerians for purportedly seeking a position for which he lacks adequate qualifications.
In his evaluation, Sowore highlighted several critical parameters including national security, the power sector, education, healthcare, and food security. He noted, “Security has failed,” and asserted that the national grid has suffered more collapses than ever before in recent history.
Regarding education, Sowore expressed concerns about the increasing financial burdens placed on students, stating that many are now compelled to incur debts to finance their schooling. He further commented on the healthcare system, pointing out that even the president opts for medical treatment outside Nigerian hospitals.
Sowore also addressed issues of food security, citing a report from the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) that denotes Nigeria as a country in need of external food assistance by 2026.
On economic conditions, he referenced a rise in poverty, noting that the number of Nigerians classified as poor has doubled from 70 million to 140 million over the past three years. He described this alarming trend as symptomatic of a broader multi-dimensional poverty crisis.
“In light of these factors, it is evident that the president has achieved an F9 in his administration,” Sowore concluded.
