Super Falcons stars miss out on WAFCON 2026 Best XI

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has unveiled the Best XI of the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, notable for the absence of any players from Nigeria’s Super Falcons, according to reports from DAILY POST.

The Super Falcons faced a challenging tournament, exiting in the quarter-finals after a narrow 1-0 defeat to the Indomitable Lionesses of Cameroon. This outcome marked a historic low for the ten-time African champions, as it was the first instance in which they did not advance to the semi-finals of the competition.

Cameroon, the tournament champions, had the most representation on the Best XI list, with four players recognized: goalkeeper Michaelly Bihina, along with defenders Myrian Myadjou, Monique Ngock, and midfielder Marie Ngah.

Malawi, the runners-up, had two players included in the elite selection: Tabitha Chawinga and Temwa Chawinga. Hosts Morocco and Algeria each contributed two players as well. Moroccans Mohaila Benzina and Hanane Ait El Haj were selected, while Algeria’s representatives were Ines Bellomou and Marine Dafeur.

Zambia striker Barbara Banda completed the Best XI roster.
