Delta Police Intercept Suspected Adulterated Drinks, Arrest Driver
Operatives of the State Anti-Kidnapping Unit (SAKU) from the Delta Police Command arrested a 44-year-old driver on August 17, 2026, after intercepting a Toyota Sienna along the Warri–Agbarho Expressway. The vehicle was carrying quantities of “Gbefun Hot Drink” suspected to be adulterated.
Delta Police Public Relations Officer, SP Edafe Bright, confirmed that a subsequent investigation led authorities to a warehouse at Lower Ginuwa in Warri. There, additional quantities of the suspected adulterated beverage were discovered, along with a Suzuki Shuttle bus loaded with similar products.
“The suspected operators fled upon noticing the police. Efforts are ongoing to apprehend them and determine the source and distribution network for these products,” Bright stated.
Commissioner of Police for the Delta State Command, CP Yemi Oyeniyi, praised the operatives for their efforts and instructed a thorough investigation to apprehend all individuals involved in the case. He encouraged the public to provide credible and timely information to assist police operations.
In another development, Delta Police reported significant operational successes in Agbor and Warri, leading to the arrest of two suspects and the recovery of ammunition.
Acting on reliable intelligence, SAKU operatives apprehended a 28-year-old woman, Happiness Clifford, in connection with suspected gun-running activities in Agbor, located in the Ika South Local Government Area. During a search of her residence, police recovered 10 live cartridges concealed in a bucket.
Preliminary investigations revealed that Clifford identified her husband, Clifford Okoro, as a major supplier of the ammunition. Authorities are intensifying efforts to locate him as the investigation continues.
