Wike Promises Support for Tinubu in Rivers, FCT Ahead of 2027 Elections
Abuja — Nyesom Wike, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, has pledged to secure victories for President Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in both Rivers State and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) during the upcoming 2027 general elections.
Wike made his assertions during a media briefing with select journalists on Wednesday in Abuja. He characterized himself as the key political figure in Rivers and the FCT, referring to his role as the “general commander” of the political structure in these areas.
“It is certain that I will deliver two states, FCT and Rivers for Tinubu,” Wike stated. “You don’t need a governor to be in charge; I’m the general commander of the political structure in Rivers.”
The former governor of Rivers State emphasized his authority in both regions, claiming a firm grasp on the political landscape.
Wike attributed his influence to the loyalty of various political parties and their structures within Rivers and the FCT. His comments come amid significant political realignments as various factions prepare for the approaching elections.
