LaLiga: Mourinho suffers first defeat as Real Betis stun Madrid
Jose Mourinho experienced his first defeat upon his return to Real Madrid as the club lost 1-0 to Real Betis in La Liga on Friday.
Entering the match with a perfect record after winning their first three games, Madrid struggled to penetrate Betis’s defense for the majority of the contest.
The decisive moment came in the 81st minute when Troy Parrott scored to put Betis ahead.
Real Madrid had an opportunity to equalize in the closing moments after being awarded a penalty due to a foul on Vinicius Junior. However, Kylian Mbappe’s penalty attempt was saved by Betis goalkeeper Álvaro Valles.
With this defeat, Madrid has not emerged victorious at Betis since 2021.
