Plan your movement – Lagos govt alerts motorists as FG shuts down popular bridge

LAGOS, Nigeria — The Lagos State Government is urging motorists to plan their travels in light of an upcoming closure of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway at the Kara Bridge for essential repairs.

The Federal Ministry of Works announced over the weekend that repair works on the bridge will begin shortly, following reports of damage to a section of this heavily trafficked route.

In a statement issued Monday, Lagos State Commissioner for Transportation Oluwaseun Osiyemi advised residents traveling to Ibadan on Tuesday to consider alternative routes.

“We advise motorists traversing the corridor to plan their journeys ahead,” Osiyemi stated.

To minimize traffic disruptions during the repairs, he explained that one half of the affected section will be closed at a time, allowing motorists to share the remaining open half interchangeably.

The commissioner called for patience and cooperation from all drivers, emphasizing that the government aims to complete the rehabilitation within two weeks as scheduled.
