U-20 WWC: Spain coach pleased with win over Falconets
Spain’s head coach David Aznar expressed satisfaction with his team’s performance following a 2-0 victory over Nigeria’s Falconets in their opening match of the 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup.
La Rojita secured the win through goals from Marisa Garcia, who opened the scoring in the 13th minute, and Alba Cerrato, who sealed the match with a second goal 17 minutes before the final whistle.
“This win is very important,” Aznar said. “Winning the first match at a tournament of this level is always positive because it means that your destiny remains in your own hands going into the following games,” he added, as reported by FIFA.com.
Spain, the former champions of the tournament, will next face New Caledonia on Thursday.
