Police arrest four suspected armed robbers, recover 25 phones, laptops in Lagos
LAGOS, Nigeria — The Lagos State Police Command has apprehended four individuals suspected of being part of an armed robbery syndicate operating in the Iju-Ishaga and Oke-Aro areas of the state.
The suspects were taken into custody by officers from the Command’s Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU) following actionable intelligence and extensive surveillance, according to a police statement issued on Tuesday.
Police spokesperson Abimbola Adebisi identified the suspects as Damilare Oluwatobi, 28; Lekan Adenuga, 30; Haruna Sheriff, 22; and David Balogun, 24. They were arrested at a hideout in Idi-Oro, Mushin.
During a search of the location, law enforcement officials recovered 25 mobile phones, two laptop computers, a gold necklace, earrings, and three cutlasses.
The suspects are currently in police custody, assisting investigators in an ongoing investigation. Authorities are also actively working to locate additional members of the alleged criminal network.
Commissioner of Police Tijani Fatai praised the VCRU operatives for their quick response and effective intelligence gathering. He reiterated the command’s commitment to dismantling criminal organizations within the state to enhance residents’ safety and security.
