Man arrested in Kano for posing as CSP, promising police recruitment slots
KANO, Nigeria — The Kano State Police Command has arrested a 35-year-old man, identified as Adamu Musa, for allegedly impersonating a senior police officer and defrauding unsuspecting victims.
Musa, a resident of Kureken Sani Quarters, was apprehended by operatives from the Panshekara Police Division on September 1, 2026, following credible intelligence received by the police.
CSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, the police spokesperson, confirmed the arrest in a statement to the media. According to the statement, the police acted on a distress report from the Police Mobile Force in Challawa at approximately 7:30 p.m., which led to the deployment of officers who subsequently apprehended Musa.
Preliminary investigations indicate that Musa posed as a Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) and falsely claimed to have influence over police recruitment, transfers, and postings. Investigators found that he allegedly used manipulated photographs and artificial intelligence-generated images to enhance the authenticity of his claims, featuring himself alongside actual senior officers of the Nigeria Police Force.
The suspect is accused of deceiving victims into believing he could secure recruitment slots and facilitate transfers and postings in exchange for money.
A search of his residence yielded a variety of police uniforms, including a pair of black jacket uniforms, two pairs of black shoes, a camouflage uniform, and a blue uniform top, as well as N300,000 in cash.
Musa is currently in police custody and will face charges in court upon the completion of investigations.
