NIGERIAN ARMY ARRESTS TWO SUSPECTED LOGISTICS SUPPLIERS TO TERRORISTS IN BORNO STATE

Troops from the Nigerian Army, participating in Operation Hadin Kai alongside the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), have apprehended two individuals suspected of supplying logistics to Boko Haram and the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) in Borno State.

The apprehension occurred on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, in the Mobbar Local Government Area, following actionable intelligence regarding the movement of logistics intended for terrorist operations in the Yunusari-Mobbar region. Security analyst and counter-insurgency expert Zagazola Makama reported the incident on social media platform X.

According to military intelligence, personnel from the 159 Battalion, in collaboration with the CJTF, executed a patrol in the Gumsa area, where they intercepted a logistics consignment and detained the two suspects.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Mala Mustapha, 50, and Massa Aliyu, 40, both residents of Asaye village in Damasak, Mobbar LGA. Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects allegedly procured motorcycle spare parts for terrorists believed to be operating in the wider Yunusari and Mobbar areas.

The operation yielded a substantial cache of motorcycle components, including 50 tyres, 10 crankshafts, and various other parts. Among the additional items recovered were 20 spindles, 10 packs of bearings, and multiple motorcycle spare parts ranging from brakes to ignition keys. Security forces also seized 145 pairs of footwear, two Tecno Android phones, and N3,200 in cash from the suspects.

The suspects, along with the recovered items, have been transferred to the 27 Military Intelligence Regiment for further investigation.

This operation is part of ongoing efforts by Nigerian security forces to disrupt logistical networks that support terrorist groups operating in the North-East. Military sources indicate that troops are maintaining a heightened level of vigilance and conducting intelligence-led operations against both terrorist elements and their collaborators in the region.
