Terrorists flee with gunshot wounds as troops kill one in Kaduna

Nigerian troops from Sector 7, Sub-Sector 71 Sanga, conducted a successful operation in Ungwan Nungu village, located within the Sanga Local Government Area of Kaduna State, where they neutralized a suspected terrorist on the evening of Friday, September 18, 2026.
Based on intelligence reports regarding terrorist activity within the area, the operation commenced at approximately 8 p.m. During the engagement, the military encountered armed suspects in a gun battle. One individual, identified as Bashir Mohammed, was killed in the exchange, according to a statement by security analyst Zagazola Makama on X.
Reports indicate that other members of the terrorist group escaped the scene, possibly sustaining injuries from gunfire. The military is actively pursuing these individuals as part of ongoing efforts to disrupt potentially harmful activities and prevent any regrouping of the insurgents in the area.
