Troops Rescue Six Abducted Individuals in Benue State
Troops from the Joint Task Force, Operation Whirl Stroke, successfully rescued six individuals who had been abducted near the Gbise community in the Katsina-Ala Local Government Area of Benue State.
Lieutenant Ahmad Zubairu, the Acting Media Information Officer of the task force, confirmed the rescue in a statement released from Makurdi on Saturday. The operation took place on September 25 during a routine patrol by the troops.
Zubairu indicated that the troops acted on credible intelligence about the location of the abducted individuals and swiftly moved to the area to execute the rescue. Following the operation, the victims were transported to a secure location to receive necessary care and support.
The rescued individuals have been identified as Gabriel Enujuba, 50; Samson Magbo, 43; Alkasim Modu, 27; Manzo Bello, 27; Sani Abdullahi, 25; and Munza Yusuf, 25. Zubairu noted that initial investigations showed that five of the victims had been taken along the Chenchengi-Takum road. Additionally, Yusuf stated to investigators that he was abducted from his home in the Ahmadu general area of Takum Local Government Area in Taraba State.
The task force’s spokesman reported that operations aimed at identifying and apprehending the criminal group responsible for the kidnappings have been intensified. Security personnel are enhancing patrols and strengthening human intelligence networks to deter criminal activities in vulnerable communities and along key transportation routes.
Zubairu urged all personnel to remain vigilant, proactive, and ready to respond to any emerging security challenges. He also emphasized the task force’s commitment to expanding its human intelligence network to better track and apprehend individuals involved in kidnapping and related crimes.
Ongoing operations by Operation Whirl Stroke will continue to prioritize the safety of residents, farmers, commuters, and other citizens within the operational area.
