Coalition of Workers Endorses Tinubu for 2027 Elections
ASABA, Nigeria — The Working People United (WoPU), a coalition representing workers, professionals, and artisans, has endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the most viable candidate for the 2027 general elections in Nigeria.
The announcement came during a press briefing following the 66th Independence Thanksgiving Service at Living Faith Church, attended by Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and other state officials. WoPU’s Coordinator-General, Comrade Prince Williams Eniredonana Akporeha, praised Tinubu’s leadership over the past three and a half years, expressing optimism for Nigeria’s future.
Akporeha characterized Tinubu’s administration as “bold” and “courageous,” particularly in addressing challenges that previous governments have been reluctant to confront. He argued that, among the current candidates, only Tinubu possesses the vision and capability to reinvigorate Nigeria and build upon the legacy of its founding fathers.
He urged Nigerians, particularly youth, to focus on the tangible progress being made, urging them to look beyond political distractions. “Although President Tinubu inherited a collapsing country, he has shown the boldness to revive the dying economy so it can grow again and yield prosperity,” Akporeha stated.
WoPU highlighted several key initiatives undertaken by the Tinubu administration, including the removal of fuel subsidies, which it claims has freed up resources for grassroots development. Other notable policies include the establishment of Nigeria’s first private refinery, efforts to ensure a steady petroleum supply nationwide amid global challenges, and advocacy for state police and resource control, which the coalition believes will enhance security and promote equitable development.
Additionally, WoPU noted that the floating of the naira has improved Nigeria’s export competitiveness, attracted foreign investment, and reduced dependency on fluctuating oil revenues—factors that they contend set Tinubu apart from his rivals.
Akporeha, who previously served as President of the Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG), underscored that Tinubu’s motivations are rooted in national progress rather than personal gain. “As Nigeria attains its 66th year after independence, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is the kind of leader who understands power and how to wield it for the benefit of all,” he said.
He emphasized Tinubu’s commitment to combating religious intolerance and insecurity, stating that the president has effectively managed the nation’s resources and possesses the determination to accomplish his goals.
WoPU announced plans to conduct mass sensitization campaigns across the country to rally worker and youth support for the President’s Renewed Hope Agenda. Akporeha concluded that leading Nigeria through its current challenges requires resilience and tenacity—qualities he attributes to Tinubu, who has a proven background in both private enterprise and public service.
“The greatness of Nigeria is here,” Akporeha affirmed.
