‘Disgusting, shameful’ – Piers Morgan slams Portugal for giving Ronaldo’s iconic No.7 shirt to Leao

Piers Morgan, a British broadcaster, has criticized Portugal’s decision to assign Cristiano Ronaldo’s iconic No. 7 jersey to Rafael Leão.
The Portuguese Football Federation confirmed that Leão will wear the prestigious number in upcoming matches against Denmark and Norway. This announcement follows Ronaldo’s recent departure from the national team, reportedly due to frustrations over limited playing time under head coach Jorge Jesus.
In a post on X, Morgan condemned the decision, labeling it “disgusting and shameful.” He expressed disbelief at how Ronaldo, who has been a significant figure for the team, is being treated. “After everything @Cristiano has done for Portugal, why the hell are they treating him like this?” Morgan wrote, adding that the decision came soon after the anniversary of Ronaldo’s father’s birthday.
Leão, on his part, has expressed his enthusiasm about inheriting the No. 7 jersey, stating that Ronaldo is his role model.
